Founded in 1978, Newton manages investments on behalf of private investors and institutions. Newton is not dogmatic in its approach to valuation. It employs a variety of techniques, choosing whichever are most appropriate to a particular industry or company.

- Idea generation: first the global investment framework is established by identifying global themes - the forces driving global markets - and the individual securities likely to benefit
- Portfolio construction: Leveraging the research effort, fund managers construct a portfolio focused on the portfolio's perspectives. The portfolio is then actively managed to ensure that it continually capitalizes on opportunities in global markets
- Risk management: Objective qualitative and quantitative risk analysis to ensure that the portfolio is well positioned for performance relative to the portfolio mandate
